Binchotan purifies water, air, and deodorizes the fridge and other small spaces. It is the best quality charcoal for purifying water and air. Binchotan charcoal is activated through extremely high burning temperatures and a rapid cooling process. It has countless micro cavities -- one gram of charcoal has nearly the surface area of an entire tennis court. Because of these micro cavity walls, Binchotan absorbs chlorine and other chemicals from tap water while releasing natural minerals. Binchotan also has an alkaline effect (PH Level 8 - 8.5), and softens and improves the overall taste of water. Its hardness gives it a distinctive metallic "clink" when struck.

 

Also good for indoor cooking, this coal can be found in some of the world's most famous kitchens. French Laundry, Morimoto and Incanto get their signature flavor from it. Virtually smokeless, Binchotan can reach temperatures of up to 1000 degrees without yielding impurities. Prior to first use, rinse Binchotan with water and boil for ten minutes to refresh, allow it to dry then place in your water pitcher. Bichotan can be re-used for up to three months. It can be recycled by breaking it into small pieces and placing it into your plant soil to create micro water and air cavities in the soil.
