The Sun Necklace was inspired by the ancient solar symbol featuring a circle with its center marked with a dot. It is the astronomical / astrological symbol for the Sun, and the ancient Egyptian sign for "sun" or "Ra" in the hieroglyphic writing system.

The pendant is composed of two concentric rings (2 2/4", 2 3/4") with eight equally spaced 18k gold rivets. The inner ring is held in place by two of the gold rivets and may be spun on that axis. 

The chain pictured is made up of 70 handcrafted oxidized sterling links and measures approximately 22 inches (10-11 inch drop). A single 18k gold link joins the chain to the pendant.

In the center tube is a 3mm quartz Stanhope lens (160x magnification) containing an image of the Sun with it's circumference eclipsed/occulted highlighting flares on it's surface.
