SCRIMSHAW COMMISSIONS

We are currently accepting commissions for scrimshaw work. Please feel free to contact us to discuss how we may create a one-of-a-kind custom piece for you.

MATERIALS USED
Our scrimshaw is engraved on pre-ban vintage piano ivory (U.S. only) or fossilized Alaskan Woolly Mammoth ivory. Each piece is backed by a heavy gage sterling silver plate which is riveted to the ivory with three 18k rose gold rivets. Pendants measure approximately 1 7/8" x 7/8" and hang from a sophisticated sterling 24 inch chain (adjustable to 18) made of small cast links and a “Praying Hands” charm at the clasp.

INTERNATIONAL ORDERS
International orders require the use of fossilized woolly mammoth ivory rather than salvaged piano ivory to comply with international trade laws.

COMMISSION PROCESS

Step 1: Schedule an email, phone or in-studio consult about imagery and construction.

Scrimshaw imagery must pertain to the thematic/aesthetic realm of our existing collections. Scrimshaw engravings will be made from original drawing by Derrick R. Cruz and/or derived from our own source material. We are not available to engrave copyrighted material or to replicate the works of other artists, even with permission.

Step 2: An estimate and timeline is provided by our studio and, when approved, a 50% deposit is made. Payment options: Paypal, Credit Card, Cash.

Step 3: Two rounds of drawings are allotted for approval. Once a final drawing is approved, work begins.

Step 4: Once the commission is completed, an invoice is issued for the remaining 50% which must be paid within 5 days.

Step 5: Once payment has cleared, the order is shipped with a 14 day guarantee. The guarantee only covers faulty construction. Any damage due to faulty construction will be repaired by our studio at no extra cost.
